The standout offering here is undoubtedly the pizza. Customers rave about the sourdough base, delightfully crispy and chewy. The generous toppings and overall quality have left many, like Robert Butterfield, impressed, especially when paired with sides such as the highly recommended chicken wings and onion rings. For those seeking a snack to share, the Piselli at £14 and Mela at £16 are enticing options that showcase the kitchen's craftsmanship.
In addition to its strong pizza repertoire, SALT Woolwich has charmed many with its halloumi fries, an experience that Raymond Lew cites as “the best finger food in its class.” While portions may vary, the overall pricing remains reasonable, ensuring a satisfying outing. The welcoming staff and homey feel enhance the dining experience, making it a place where one can easily lose track of time.
As you dive into the menu, you'll find dishes that embody both comfort and creativity – truly a testament to SALT Woolwich's commitment to quality. “ Lovely food and nice lager (yeah yeah, lots of nice ales too but that's not my thing anymore!). Pizza good for two to share with a couple of cheeky sides. I can recommend the wings and onion rings ... ”
“ A cozy place for pizza. The sour dough of the pizza base is crispy and chewy. The Halloumi Fries is the best finger food in its class, although the House Salad is a bit small portion, but it’s only 4.5. Reasonably priced, with excellent home feel service and top tier food. ”
“ Really nice selection of beers and good quality pizzas - really good crispy base and generous portion of toppings, reasonably priced. Must visit if in the neighbourhood! ”
“ Tucked in a corner of Royal Arsenal Riverside is the Taproom. A small but cozy place with a nice selection of craft beers and Pizzas. If you are going with a group definitely book a table before heading there. I've tasted a couple of the pizzas here now and can safely say they are delicious! There are 2 floors, on the ground floor there are a couple of small tables and seating options, then up the spiral staircase there are larger tables more suited to bigger groups and a few tables suited to couples. A very relaxing vibe all round. The people who frequent this place always seem friendly and the staff are very hard working and I'm always greeted with a smile. There is a small outside seating area also. The entrance to the new crossrail will be right next to the Taproom so it's perfectly placed for when that opens. All in all I like this place due to the relaxing vibes, pizzas and Beers, and its easy to get to with the train station, bus stop, DLR all close by. ”
“ Very nice little craft beer stop near the station. Not the biggest bar inside but some seating outside that will be an absolute sun trap in the summer. Great range of Salt beers on tap but also guest beers. ”
“ A nice little place, if I were to say anything is check the price of what your ordering... I thought I'd try a couple of their lagers without checking the very obvious price list and one of them gave me a shock . Very nice drinks and a nice place. Worth a visit. ”
“ "Yum" Fantastic beer and pizza place on Woolwich Arsenal. Great pizzas, and they'll do half and half if you can't decide which one to order. Halloumi fries are excellent and the BBQ chicken wings are great too. Salted caramel espresso Martini is just awesome. Well recommended. ”
“ SALT is my favourite bar in the Royal Arsenal, and there are quite a few of them in the area. It’s not the cheapest place to go, but you will enjoy a wide selection of beers, including Salt’s own selection and a frequently changing rotation of guest beers, all of which a re unique and very tasty indeed (they will let you try before you buy, obviously). The food menu is pizza-based with snacky stuff and lots of choice. Although they fall slightly short of other stonebaked options available in town, the pizzas are really, really good for a pub; I personally recommend the Carne or the N’duja. All the food is delicious; I have tried most of the menu and have never been disappointed. The downstairs bar is quite small with very limited seating, and gets very busy in the evenings. There is a larger upstairs seating area (accessible only by stairs) where you can usually grab a table, and in the summer, there is an extensive terrace that is a glorious sun trap. Be aware that you cannot book unless it’s for larger events. There is also a toilet on site. A fantastic local craft beer bar and pizza restaurant; in short, it’s got everything you need, friendly staff and a wonderful location, both for residents of the Arsenal and for visitors to the area, being only a few minutes’ walk from Woolwich Station (Elizabeth Line), ten minutes from the DLR and train station, and very close to the bus stops on Plumstead Road (A206). ”
